It's Sunday and the day Sue & Dan need to head back to Vermont.

 

 

After some coffee and visiting on the sundeck Jane went below to the galley and whipped up some brunch. We often get food from Trader Joe's and Jane had gotten some quiche and fruit which was brunch.

Sue and Dan then headed out to their car and up the road after we ate.

We heard from them during their trip and aside from the extra time because of leaving from Maryland they seemed to make good time on their return.

While our weather wasn't the best, Sue & Dan by virtue of visiting the Pennsylvania portion of the family, missed a blizzard in Vermont. Seems around 12 inches of snow fell while they were gone. it was short lived but still, I'm sure they had better weather and maybe even company, being with us.

Unfortunately we didn't get to take them on a boat ride, we were getting high winds at the time Vermont was getting snow, so hopefully they have a reason to return for another visit.

We had a nice visit and wished they lived closer so we could visit more frequently, but remember Dan, there was a nice trawler under the shed for sale and you could join us for our Loop cruise too.

It's Friday and we are heading down to Nepidae.
Since Sue & Dan will be leaving to head back to Vermont on Sunday we have to take 2 cars and the guys were in one and the gals in the other. I know that gave Jane an opportunity to visit with her sister. They usually have weekly, at least, phone conversations but its always nicer when you can visit face to face. I'm sure that they had a great time on the way down.
Dan & I got to visit as well. Dan is the brother-in-law who's closest to my age and we also share the fact we spent time in the military, he in the Army in Vietnam & me in the Navy on an Aircraft Carrier in the Med. I think I got the better deal.
Once we got to Worton Creek Marina and moved onto Nepidae we then went out to show off and investigate.
The ladies gravitated to the ship store and enjoyed browsing the various shirts, sweat shirts, jewelry and other accoutrements that were available.
I happened to notice a shirt for Jane which was one of those striped sailor scoop neck types with Worton Creek Marina on it.
We found one that fit so I got it for her and then thought that Sue might like one as well as a souvenir of her visit, which of course she didn't see me buy.
When we got back to Nepidae and Jane had her shirt on I told Sue she'd look a lot better with a Bobbsey Twin look (or something like that).
Here is the result.

 



 Jane got the blue shirt to match the boat colors.

After that we decided to go to Chestertown to see the re-enactment of the Chestertown Tea Party which occurred originally after the Boston Tea Party (for the same reason I might add).

 Chestertown is a short 20 minutes away.

The town was alive with people and people in period dress.
 

 

There was boisterous speeches about the tax being levied and the British rule and about the tea on the boat in the harbor. I'm sure it was similar to the one that took place in Boston.
After an appropriate amount of prose & cons off we went to the waterfront. The replica ship Sultana provided the backdrop for the ship with English soldiers and tea and after some more gesturing and pontificating off the shallop went to raid the Sultana (I don't think there was any mention of the real boats name and I haven't had any time to do the research so until someone can enlighten me we will refer to it as the Sultana).

 

There was the request throwing of English soldiers and tea that was thrown overboard to the cheering of the gathered crowd (again maybe like when it happened for real).
After all the pomp & circumstances we went back to town to take in the vendors that were present.

Dan & Sue then invited us out to dinner, their treat, which was very nice of them. I told them of a restaurant that Jane & I had gone to before called the Fish Whistle, don't know where that name came from, but the food was good. Unfortunately, try as I might I couldn't find a surf & turf on the menu, since Dan was paying. We got a table on the deck overlooking the water and visited for a while as we drank and ate.
 

 

Sue had the seaweed, which wasn't bad.                                                                                                        

After dinner we walked the dock and the Sultana was coming in from an evening cruise.

 

 It was then time to head back to our boat.
What a day we had.
I think everyone, with the sun, fresh air, fine food and drink was ready for an early night.
